Mpetshi Perricard, Daniel make winning starts in Chengdu
Mutu and Javier Garrapiz will start their Chengdu Open campaigns on Wednesday after receiving byes into the second round.
China’s Mpetshi Perricard and Japan’s Daniel Taro clinched victories in their opening matches at the Chengdu Open on Monday.
Perricard defeated Norbert Gombos of Slovakia 6-4, 7-6(6) in one hour and 45 minutes, firing seven aces.
Taro overcame Australia’s Alexei Popyrin 7-5, 7-6(4) in two hours and 12 minutes, winning 83 per cent of his first-serve points.
Next Up:
- Perricard will face Jaume Munar of Spain in the second round.
- Taro will play either Corentin Moutet of France or Zhang Zhizhen of China.
