Astros Extend Win Streak to Six Games

Framber Valdez Continues to Impress on the Mound

The Houston Astros extended their winning streak to six games with a 5-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park. Yordan Álvarez and Framber Valdez were the stars of the game for the Astros. Álvarez hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give Houston an early lead, and Valdez pitched six strong innings, allowing just two runs on five hits. The Diamondbacks scored their first run in the second inning on a groundout by Geraldo Perdomo. They tied the game in the fourth inning on a solo homer by Christian Walker. But the Astros took the lead for good in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Alex Bregman. Álvarez added an RBI single in the sixth inning to give Houston a 4-2 lead. Chas McCormick hit a solo homer in the seventh inning to give the Astros an insurance run. Valdez improved to 8-4 on the season with the win. He struck out seven batters and walked two. Drey Jameson took the loss for the Diamondbacks. He allowed four runs on six hits in five innings. The Astros will face the Diamondbacks again on Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park. Lance McCullers Jr. will start for the Astros, while Merrill Kelly will start for the Diamondbacks.
