Early Life and Career

Legendary New York Giants linebacker Sam Leonhard played college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Growing up, he attended Wilmington Laney High School and was a standout player on both sides of the ball.

After graduating high school, Leonhard committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played for the Tar Heels from 2002-2004.

During his collegiate career, Leonhard was known for his tackles, interceptions, and forced fumbles. He was a key member of the Tar Heels' defense that helped the team win the 2003 Orange Bowl and finish the season ranked 4th in the nation.

NFL Career

Leonhard was drafted in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, with whom he played from 2005-2011.

He was a key member of the Giants' defense and helped the team win Super Bowl XLII over the New England Patriots and Super Bowl XLVI over the New York Giants.
