Mississippi State Fires Football Coach Zach Arnett
Arnett Led Bulldogs to 5-7 Record in 2022
Program Has Not Won an SEC Game Since 2021
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State has fired football coach Zach Arnett, the school announced Monday.
Arnett led the Bulldogs to a 5-7 record in 2022, including an 1-7 mark in SEC play. The program has not won an SEC game since 2021.
"I want to thank Zach for his hard work and dedication to Mississippi State," Mississippi State athletic director Zac Selmon said in a statement. "He is a man of character and integrity, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Arnett was hired at Mississippi State in December 2019 after serving as the defensive coordinator at Mississippi State from 2018-19. He was previously the defensive coordinator at San Diego State from 2015-17.
Mississippi State will begin a national search for its next head coach immediately.
